Tank Requirements
Lighting: Low to moderate (20–120 PAR); stable, indirect light prevents tissue retraction and protects its complex pigments from bleaching.
Water Flow: Low to medium; requires just enough indirect current to keep waste from accumulating on its oral disc without pinning its flesh flat against the skeleton.
Temperature: 72°F – 78°F (22°C – 26°C).
Salinity (Specific Gravity): 1.023 – 1.025.
pH Range: 8.0 – 8.3.
Care and Feeding
Placement: Bottom of the aquarium, ideally placed on a horizontal or slightly angled soft sandbed away from shifting substrate or falling rocks.
Diet: Photosynthetic via zooxanthellae, but displays an aggressive nighttime feeding response and grows best with weekly target feeding of mysis shrimp or specialized LPS pellets.
Temperament: Peaceful; it completely lacks aggressive sweeper tentacles, allowing multiple color variations of the same species to be grouped together safely into close-contact "scoly gardens"
