The Salifert Phosphate Test Kit is a highly sensitive, laboratory-grade colorimetry kit designed to measure inorganic orthophosphate (PO₄³⁻) concentrations in both marine reef displays and freshwater environments. Phosphates are naturally introduced into closed systems through fish foods, tap water, and biological waste decomposition. Even in microscopic amounts, elevated phosphates can quickly fuel aggressive nuisance hair algae outbreaks and physically block the skeletal calcification process of stony corals.

Dual-Scale Testing Ranges:
Standard Scale: Detects values from 0.03 ppm up to 3.0 ppm when looking down from above.
High-Sensitivity Scale: By looking horizontally through the side of the vial rather than down from above, you divide the color chart values by exactly 2, allowing you to read trace values down to 0.015 ppm.
Kit Testing Capacity: Contains sufficient raw liquid and powder reagents to complete up to 60 total tests before replacement is required.
Target Parameters: Ultra-low nutrient marine reef systems should ideally preserve a phosphate concentration between 0.03 ppm and 0.05 ppm to maximize coral colors without starving the system.
